A denial issued by the Oakland Enterprise Zone may be appealed within 60 calendar days of the date of denial. Please note that the appeal process is not handled through the online system and requires a written response.

The following information must be provided to the Oakland Enterprise Zone to appeal a denial issuance:

1. Name and address of the business, and, if applicable, the business’s representative for the purposes of the appeal

2. Signature of the business or the business’s authorized representative

3. Narrative discussion of why the denial should be reversed and any additional information or documentation not previously provided in support of the application

4. Copy of all denial notices received previously

Once the Agent has appealed within the 60 calendar day period, the Oakland Enterprise Zone will have 60 calendar days of receipt of the appeal to respond to the Agent. The Oakland Enterprise Zone will provide a written response to the Agent explaining the reasoning for their determination. The Oakland Enterprise Zone will also send a copy of the final determination including all supporting documentation to its representative at the California Department of Housing and Community Development, the oversight agency for the California Enterprise Zone Program.
